William R. Berkley, founder of W.R. Berkley Corporation and Executive Chairman, passed away on June 9, 2026, at age 80 after nearly six decades leading the company into a Fortune 500 organization. W. Robert Berkley, Jr., who was President and CEO, has been appointed Chairman effective immediately in the leadership transition.
