Visa (V) and Mastercard (MA) have announced a collaboration with Ant International to develop a framework for Know Your Agent (KYA). The initiative aims to establish standardized protocols for verifying the identity and credentials of artificial intelligence agents participating in commerce.
The announcement highlights the projected growth of AI agents in the global economy. Industry forecasts suggest that by 2030, these agents could orchestrate up to $5 trillion in commercial activity.
Visa has previously indicated that millions of consumers are expected to use AI agents to complete purchases by the 2026 holiday season. The company operates in over 200 countries and processes transactions in more than 160 currencies.
