Visa Inc. and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) have announced a new initiative designed to share credit settlement risk for approximately 50 financial institutions that are currently rated below investment grade.
The collaboration aims to provide these institutions with access to working capital, which is often difficult to secure through traditional banking channels. By sharing the risk associated with settling credit transactions, Visa and IFC hope to facilitate smoother financial operations for these smaller and less established entities.
Visa operates in over 200 countries and processes transactions in more than 160 currencies. In fiscal 2025, the company processed nearly $17 trillion in total volume.
