UnitedHealth Group Inc.’s (NYSE: UNH) UnitedHealthcare division introduced its 2027 Medicare Advantage plans on Thursday. The announcement focuses on affordability, streamlined navigation, and integrated care for the senior population.

For the 2027 plan year, the insurer reports that over 94% of Medicare-eligible individuals nationwide will have access to a UnitedHealthcare option. Approximately 90% of eligible consumers within the coverage footprint can choose a plan with a $0 premium. Additionally, more than 95% of non-Special Needs Plan (SNP) enrollees are projected to avoid hitting their annual maximum out-of-pocket limits, with many spending under $300 yearly on medical services.

The plans include $0 copays for primary care visits, preventive services, and Tier 1 prescription drugs across all offerings. Beneficiaries also gain access to dental, vision, and hearing benefits, which are generally excluded from standard Medicare coverage.

UnitedHealthcare prioritizes Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) plans alongside specialized offerings. Ad HMO options will reach roughly 95% of eligible individuals, offering lower out-of-pocket spending compared to LPPO plans, where HMO enrollees save over $175 annually. For complex care, Dual Special Needs Plans (D-SNPs) will reach about 74% of dual-eligible individuals, while Chronic Special Needs Plans (C-SNPs) will cover nearly 48 million eligible beneficiaries to support conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and chronic heart failure.

The 2027 lineup updates the exclusive UCard by separating health plan information onto a dedicated Member ID card. Partnering with Mastercard, qualifying D-SNP members can pay utility bills in real time. Members can also use benefit balances at over 70,000 participating retailers, including Walmart, Target, and Dollar General. UnitedHealthcare maintains $0 Tier 1 drug copays for almost all members and supports a pharmacy network exceeding 60,000 locations alongside Optum Home Delivery.

UnitedHealth Group shares were down 0.12% at $366.62 during premarket trading on Thursday, according to Benzinga Pro data.
