Apple Inc. and Amazon.com Inc. are facing a lawsuit filed by the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), which alleges that the two technology giants engaged in unlawful anticompetitive agreements.
The regulator claims that Apple and Amazon entered into arrangements that restrict competition in the digital markets for app stores and online marketplaces. The CMA asserts that these agreements have the effect of preventing other companies from offering better deals to consumers.
The legal action was announced on September 28, 2026, by the UK's competition watchdog. The CMA is seeking to address what it describes as barriers to competition that disadvantage both businesses and consumers in the digital economy.
