Truist Financial Corporation announced a series of executive leadership appointments and a departure on October 16, 2026, as part of the bank's strategy to sharpen its priorities and invest for growth.

The company appointed D. Steve Boland as vice chair. Boland, who retired from Bank of America in 2025, previously served as the company's chief administrative officer and president of Retail Banking. He will report to Truist President and CEO Mike Lyons and work across the company to advance strategic initiatives.

Shimna Sameer has been named chief consumer banking officer. She will report to Lyons as well. Sameer, who previously led Truist Wealth, will oversee efforts to grow core deposits and deepen primary banking relationships. She brings over 20 years of experience in consumer banking, wealth management, and private banking from Bank of America.

Jeff Dunn and Bryan Cram will serve as co-heads of Truist Wealth on an interim basis, reporting to Chief Wholesale Banking Officer Kristin Lesher. Jeff Warner has been hired as chief small business banking officer. Warner joins from PNC Financial Services Group, where he spent more than 25 years leading small business operations.

In other news, Dontá L. Wilson, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Consumer and Small Business Banking Officer, will leave Truist effective December 31, 2026. Truist stated that Wilson is entitled to benefits for an involuntary separation not for cause, as previously disclosed in the company's proxy statement for the 2026 annual meeting of shareholders, subject to the execution of a release of claims and compliance with restrictive covenants.
