Trilogy Metals Inc. has announced the successful completion of its 2026 summer field program at the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects (UKMP) in northwestern Alaska's Ambler Mining District. The company reported that all priority objectives for the season were achieved, including the drilling of 42 geotechnical, hydrogeological, condemnation, and exploration holes spanning approximately 5,200 meters.
The drilling campaign focused on the proposed Arctic mine's waste rock storage facilities and tailings footprint areas, as well as groundwater characterization targets. The data collected is intended to inform mine design and infrastructure placement while supporting the permitting process. Additionally, Ambler Metals completed target assessments along the 100-kilometer Volcanogenic Massive Sulfide (VMS) belt, which hosts the Arctic and Bornite deposits and contains approximately 30 known historic occurrences and electromagnetic anomalies.
In a separate announcement, Ambler Metals LLC, the 50/50 joint venture operating company equally owned by Trilogy Metals and South32 Limited, has appointed David Thomas as Senior Vice President of Project Development. Mr. Thomas will lead engineering and project development for the Arctic Project. The company noted that Mr. Thomas brings more than 40 years of experience in underground and open-pit mining across North America and internationally, including specific expertise in Arctic developments.
The UKMP asset portfolio encompasses approximately 190,929 hectares and hosts both the high-grade Arctic polymetallic deposit and the Bornite copper-cobalt deposit. The company anticipates that 2027 will see a significant increase in activity, including exploration and development drilling at Bornite and along the VMS belt, continued engineering at Arctic, and the release of a Draft Environmental Impact Statement targeted for October 2027.
