Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) has announced that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has published a Notice of Intent (NOI) to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Company's flagship Arctic Project. This project is located in northwestern Alaska's Ambler Mining District and is being advanced by Ambler Metals LLC, a 50/50 joint venture between Trilogy Metals and South32 Limited.
The publication of the NOI formally initiates the environmental review of the project under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and launches the public scoping phase. The USACE, which received Ambler Metals' Clean Water Act Section 404 permit application on April 20, 2026, is the project's lead federal agency. During the scoping process, the agency invites comments from the public, local residents, regional organizations, Tribes, and other stakeholders to identify significant issues and reasonable alternatives for the EIS.
According to the Company, the NOI represents the first key federal milestone on a coordinated federal and state permitting schedule published on the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council's Permitting Dashboard in July 2026. The schedule targets a draft EIS in October 2027 and a Record of Decision in September 2028, with the overall completion of federal and state authorizations targeted for November 2028. This timeline is described as materially ahead of historical baselines for comparable federal reviews.
The Arctic Project is part of the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects, which spans approximately 190,929 hectares. The area hosts polymetallic volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits containing copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver, as well as carbonate replacement deposits with high-grade copper and cobalt mineralization. Ambler Metals has an agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., an Alaska Native Corporation, to facilitate exploration and potential development in cooperation with local communities.
