Talen Energy Corporation reported its third quarter 2026 financial results, announcing a GAAP net income attributable to stockholders of $138 million for the three months ended September 30, 2026. The company reported Adjusted EBITDA of $669 million and Adjusted Free Cash Flow of $433 million for the quarter. Compared to the prior year, GAAP net income decreased by $69 million, while Adjusted EBITDA and Adjusted Free Cash Flow increased by $306 million and $210 million, respectively. These increases were attributed to the contribution of acquired generation facilities, higher settled power prices, and higher capacity revenues, which were partially offset by unrealized mark-to-market losses on derivative contracts and increased interest expense.
Talen reaffirmed its 2026 guidance, projecting Adjusted EBITDA between $2.05 billion and $2.20 billion and Adjusted Free Cash Flow between $1.225 billion and $1.325 billion. The company introduced 2027 guidance, projecting Adjusted EBITDA of $2.5 billion to $2.85 billion and Adjusted Free Cash Flow of $1.5 billion to $1.75 billion. The company noted that the 2027 guidance represents approximately 26% and 27% growth at the midpoints compared to the 2026 guidance ranges.
In a capital allocation update, Talen announced the upsizing of its existing share repurchase program (SRP) from $1.5 billion to an aggregate remaining capacity of $3.0 billion, extending through December 31, 2028. Additionally, the company entered into a $1.5 billion accelerated share repurchase program (ASR) expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2027. On October 1, 2026, Talen received and retired approximately 3.8 million shares under the ASR program, funded by net proceeds of $1.3 billion from a capacity monetization agreement. The company also repurchased 600,000 shares in the third quarter for approximately $204 million.
As of October 30, 2026, Talen reported total available liquidity of approximately $1.6 billion, consisting of $220 million in unrestricted cash and $1.4 billion available under its Revolving Credit Facility. The company remains focused on maintaining a net leverage target of 3.5x net debt-to-Adjusted EBITDA.
