On September 15, 2026, SunCoke Energy, Inc. (NYSE: SXC) announced the appointment of Wendell L. Carter to its Board of Directors. Mr. Carter, a veteran of the iron and steel industry, will serve on the Company’s Compensation Committee and Governance Committee. He will be a member of the board's Class I, standing for election at the Annual Meeting of Stockholders in May 2027.

Mr. Carter brings over four decades of operational and technical leadership experience. He most recently served as Executive Vice President, Technology at Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. (NYSE: CLF) from 2022 to 2025. In that role, he led research facilities in Middletown, Ohio, and Novi, Michigan, overseeing 120 research engineers. He also managed a corporate engineering budget of approximately $1.0 billion.

From 2021 to 2022, Mr. Carter served as Executive Vice President, West Operations at Cleveland-Cliffs, leading operations across Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Northern Ohio, and West Virginia. Earlier in his career, he was Vice President and General Manager of ArcelorMittal USA LLC, where he was responsible for a 7.5-million-ton steelmaking facility and approximately 4,900 employees.

Mr. Carter holds a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering and an M.B.A. He has authored 13 technical papers concerning iron blast furnace construction and practice and is a past president of the Association for Iron & Steel Technology. The Company noted that Mr. Carter does not have any family relationship with other directors or executive officers and will receive standard compensation for non-employee directors, prorated to reflect his start date.
