Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: SPCX) has adopted the term "Super Intelligence" for its AI subsidiary, following a directive from the federal government. The change was confirmed by company founder Elon Musk in response to a user query on X.

Musk stated that the company's AI unit, previously known as SpaceXAI, will be renamed SpaceXSI. He posted that the change is intended to replace "AI" with "SI" because, in his view, "It’s better." The filing notes that SpaceXAI is a relatively new unit resulting from the consolidation of Musk’s space and AI businesses and operates the Grok model.

The shift in terminology was prompted by an executive order signed by President Donald Trump on September 29, 2026. The order, titled "Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence," directs federal agencies to replace "Artificial Intelligence" with "Super Intelligence" in official communications and reports. The administration views the current phase of AI development as having capabilities that exceed the definition of traditional "artificial intelligence." The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy has been tasked with developing a federal definition of "Super Intelligence" within 60 days.

Trump also established a Super Intelligence Force led by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to coordinate national efforts in the field. The administration has announced more than $5 billion for the Genesis Mission, which aims to utilize advanced AI capabilities across sectors including science, medicine, energy, and manufacturing.

The article highlights that while the rebranding is a voluntary corporate decision by SpaceX, it signals an alignment between Silicon Valley and Washington’s emerging technology agenda. Investors are advised to distinguish between this terminology change and any underlying business or technical changes, as no new products or investment programs were announced in connection with the name change.
