Quantum-Si Incorporated announced on October 8, 2026, that it has successfully demonstrated the detection of 19 amino acids in its Proteus development program. The company stated that it is now focused on deploying this capability into a developmental sequencing kit for routine use on integrated Proteus instruments.

Building on interim results presented at the 2026 World HUPO Congress, the company reports that this milestone reflects continued progress in its amino acid recognizer program. The company expressed confidence that detection of all 20 amino acids is within reach by the end of 2026.

Jeff Hawkins, President and Chief Executive Officer of Quantum-Si, commented on the progress, noting that the development of a sequencing kit to utilize the 19-amino-acid capability is a current priority. Hawkins stated that once deployed, the company expects the capability to further increase Proteus sequencing performance.

The company also reiterated its expectation that the Proteus platform will advance toward commercial launch in the second quarter of 2027.
