QNB Corp. (NASDAQ: QNBC) announced on September 8, 2026, the execution of a strategic repositioning of a portion of its available-for-sale (AFS) securities portfolio. The company sold securities with a total amortized cost of $254.4 million and a weighted average yield of 1.59%. This transaction represents approximately 46.8% of the company's total securities portfolio.
In addition to the securities sales, QNB Corp. unwound $162.0 million in notional amount of pay-fixed swaps. The company estimates that these transactions will result in a net pre-tax loss of approximately $26.2 million. This loss is expected to be recorded in the company's financial results for the third quarter of 2026.
The company stated that net proceeds from the sale will be used to purchase high-yielding, low-risk AFS securities and to fund loan growth. The blended, expected weighted average yield for the newly acquired securities is approximately 5.45%. QNB Corp. expects the repositioning to be accretive to earnings, net interest margin, and return on average assets in future periods. The company also anticipates recovering the estimated pre-tax loss in under four years.
The company noted that the sales had no impact on shareholders' equity or book value per share as of the date of the sale, as unrealized losses on AFS securities were already accounted for as a deduction to shareholders' equity. Furthermore, the company and its subsidiary, QNB Bank, maintain capital levels above internal minimums and regulatory requirements for being categorized as well-capitalized.
