Prudential Financial, Inc. filed a Current Report on Form 8-K on October 15, 2026, to disclose preliminary financial information for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, and to detail significant changes to its segment reporting structure.

The company reported that assets under management for its PGIM segment stood at $1.47 trillion as of September 30, 2026. During the quarter, PGIM generated approximately $20 million in other related revenues, net of related expenses, on an adjusted operating income basis. Additionally, the company estimated that alternative investment income for its General Account, excluding the Closed Block Division and Funds Withheld portfolios, was approximately $15 million to $35 million above near-term expectations.

The filing also detailed the impact of the suspension of sales at Prudential of Japan. The company estimated that this suspension resulted in a reduction of approximately $140 million in the Japan Businesses’ pre-tax adjusted operating income for the quarter, driven by costs related to Life Planner compensation, lost sales, and surrenders.

Regarding its segment reporting, Prudential announced that effective in the third quarter of 2026, the International Businesses segment has been renamed the “Japan Businesses.” Concurrently, the operating results of certain businesses, including Brazil and Mexico operations, have been reclassified to Divested and Run-off Businesses within Corporate and Other operations. Furthermore, the company’s indirect 40% ownership interest in Administradora de Fondos de Pensiones Habitat S.A. (AFP Habitat) has been moved from the former International Businesses segment to the Retirement segment.

The company noted that these changes are being applied retrospectively and do not impact previously issued Consolidated Financial Statements. Prudential furnished a revised version of its Quarterly Financial Supplement for the second quarter of 2026 to reflect these reporting changes.
