Profound Medical Corp. has announced the appointment of Richard R. Fabian as President, effective September 1, 2026. Mr. Fabian succeeds Mathieu Burtnyk, PhD, who has transitioned to the newly created role of Chief Technology Officer, also effective September 1, 2026.

Mr. Fabian, age 59, brings over 29 years of experience in the medical device and imaging sectors. His most recent role was President and CEO of FUJIFILM Sonosite, Inc., where he led the global Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) business from 2017 until June 2026. Prior to Sonosite, he held various executive leadership roles in marketing, sales, and global general management at Philips Healthcare from 2002 to 2016. Earlier in his career, he served as Vice President of Operations at STERIS Corporation and held finance roles at the company.

In connection with the appointment, Profound Medical entered into an Employment Agreement with Mr. Fabian. Under the terms of the agreement, he will receive an annualized base salary of $550,000 and is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus of up to 100% of his base salary. The company will provide a monthly car allowance of $1,000 and lease a residence in Toronto for Mr. Fabian during his initial 12 months of employment, during which he is expected to spend approximately 50% of his time at the company's Toronto office.

Mr. Fabian was granted 200,000 restricted share units under the company's 2020 Amended and Restated Long Term Incentive Plan, which will vest in three equal annual installments. Additionally, he was granted options to purchase 475,000 common shares under the Second Amended and Restated Share Option Plan, with vesting occurring over four years.

Profound Medical develops and markets interventional MRI (iMRI) procedures. Its flagship platform, TULSA-PRO, enables MRI-guided, incision-free prostate ablation, and the company also commercializes Sonalleve for MRI-guided therapy.
