PetMed Express, Inc. (Nasdaq: PETS) announced the appointment of Tamar Elkeles, Ph.D., as an independent director to its Board of Directors. The appointment is effective September 17, 2026, and increases the total number of board members to five.
Dr. Elkeles will serve on the Board’s Compensation and Human Capital Committee and the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee. The Board has determined that she qualifies as an independent director under Nasdaq listing standards and the company’s Corporate Governance Guidelines.
Dr. Elkeles, age 57, brings over 30 years of experience in the technology and human capital sectors. Her previous roles include serving as Chief Human Resources Officer at XCOM Labs (now Virewirx) from January 2019 to June 2022, and as Chief Learning & Talent Officer at Qualcomm from 1992 to 2015, where she supported the company's growth from $100 million to over $25 billion in revenue.
Currently, Dr. Elkeles serves as a Senior Advisor at East Wind Advisors and sits on the boards of Brightline Interactive and OpenSesame. She holds an M.S. and Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology and a B.A. in psychology and human development from the University of Kansas.
The company stated that Dr. Elkeles will receive compensation in accordance with its Non-Employee Director Compensation Program, filed as Exhibit 10.7 to the 2026 Form 10-K. The Board also intends to enter into a standard indemnification agreement with Dr. Elkeles.
