NPK International Inc. has announced that Gregg Piontek, the company’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, intends to retire from his position on or before August 31, 2027. Mr. Piontek notified the company of his retirement on August 28, 2026, after nearly 20 years of service. Upon his retirement, he will be retained to assist with the transition of his duties. The company has initiated a formal search for a successor CFO in consultation with a global executive search firm.
In connection with the succession planning, the Board of Directors has appointed Matthew Warren as the new Chief Accounting Officer (CAO), effective August 31, 2026. Mr. Warren succeeds Mr. Piontek as the principal accounting officer. Mr. Warren’s annual base salary has been increased to $283,000, and his target annual cash incentive opportunity has been set at 40% of his base salary. He is eligible to participate in the company’s Equity Incentive Plan and will serve as a Tier 3 participant in the U.S. Executive Severance Plan and Change in Control Plan.
Mr. Warren, age 44, previously served as the Vice President of Accounting & Financial Reporting at NPK since April 2026. Prior to that, he held the role of Corporate Controller from June 2022 through April 2026, and earlier served as Director of Financial Reporting and Assistant Corporate Controller from April 2018 through June 2022. Mr. Warren is a Certified Public Accountant who began his career at Deloitte & Touche and holds a Masters in Professional Accounting and a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin.
The company stated that the CFO transition is not expected to affect its previously announced financial outlook or strategic priorities. The press release announcing these leadership changes was issued on September 2, 2026.
