Moleculin Biotech, Inc. (Nasdaq: MBRX) announced on September 23, 2026, that the Mexican Patent Office has granted Patent No. 436849. This new patent strengthens the Company's global intellectual property portfolio regarding its proprietary lung-targeted liposomal Annamycin technology.

The newly issued patent is designed to protect Annamycin, a next-generation anthracycline currently being evaluated in the pivotal MIRACLE trial for relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Unlike conventional anthracyclines, Annamycin was engineered to avoid multidrug resistance mechanisms and is designed to penetrate tissues that are traditionally difficult to treat, including the lungs. The patent remains in force until November 23, 2040.

In addition to the patent news, the filing details recent capital raising activities. The Company entered into an At Market Offering Agreement with Roth Capital Partners, LLC in July 2025. Pursuant to this agreement, Moleculin issued 888,400 shares of common stock in September 2026 for aggregate gross proceeds of approximately $0.48 million.

Separately, on August 3, 2026, the Company issued Series I Warrants to purchase up to 37,130,001 shares of common stock in a public offering. These warrants were initially exercisable at a price of $0.75 per share and expire on the five-year anniversary of the closing date. Following the issuances from the ATM Offering, the exercise price of the Series I Warrants was reduced to $0.51 per share.
