Meta Platforms Inc. (NASDAQ: META) is positioning its AI agent, Muse, as a broader growth platform that extends beyond consumers into the small business sector. According to a report citing President and Vice Chairman Dina Powell McCormick, Meta is rolling out a new feature called Muse for Small Business.
The expansion aims to serve the company's existing user base of approximately 200 million small-business owners. The new tool allows businesses to start customer conversations, manage cash flow and inventory, build websites, and communicate directly with customers. Meta is integrating partners including Shopify, Slack, and Walmart into the platform to facilitate these functions.
McCormick highlighted that Muse has become the number one downloaded app on the App Store since its launch. Unlike traditional AI tools that primarily answer questions, she described Muse as capable of acting on users' behalf to plan travel, handle tasks, and complete transactions. Small businesses using the platform are reportedly able to reclaim one to three hours each day, allowing owners to focus more on running and expanding their operations.
Regarding monetization, McCormick stated that Meta is considering charging a fee when Muse helps users save money. She also noted that the company is exploring subscription models as engagement with the app increases. The company emphasized its 3.6 billion daily users and cited AI products from its research labs as strengthening its core business.
