First Lady Melania Trump is scheduled to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday, according to a post by the exchange on X. The event coincides with the 81st U.N. General Assembly and marks the launch of IMPERIA, an invite-only initiative focused on female CEOs and executives.
The NYSE, which is owned by Intercontinental Exchange Inc. (NYSE: ICE), announced the event in a post on Saturday. The initiative is described as a “Davos for Women,” aiming to facilitate business relationships, capital movement, policy influence, and cross-industry collaboration.
According to a senior advisor to the First Lady, Marc Beckman, the event is designed to bring together female leaders to foster these specific professional objectives.
The week of appearances is being promoted by the First Lady as a “Week of American Excellence.” During the preceding day's event, she welcomed leaders from nearly 60 nations and announced new private-sector technology partnerships with several major corporations, including Adobe Inc., Amazon.com, Inc., Intel Corp., Starlink, Google, and Zoom Communications Inc.
Intercontinental Exchange Inc. closed 1.57% lower on Tuesday at $152.93 and gained 0.18% in extended trading.
