During the quarter, LyondellBasell increased cash by approximately $600 million, including a planned repayment of €500 million in debt. The company generated $1.7 billion in cash from operating activities and held $3.2 billion in cash and cash equivalents, with $7.7 billion in total available liquidity. In a separate transaction disclosed on October 29, 2026, LyondellBasell entered into an agreement to sell its wholly owned subsidiary, Houston Refining, L.P., to a subsidiary of Valero Energy Corporation. The purchase price is $320.5 million, and the sale is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals.

The company stated that integrated polyethylene margins ended the third quarter at approximately 50% above 2025 levels. Intermediates and Derivatives profitability was materially higher, largely driven by oxyfuels, which benefited from global supply disruptions and favorable gasoline blend economics. The company completed a planned turnaround at Clinton on time and under budget.

Looking ahead, LyondellBasell expects fourth quarter operating rates of 85% for North American Olefins and Polyolefins assets, 60% for European Olefins and Polyolefins assets, and 75% for Intermediates and Derivatives assets. The company noted that polyethylene domestic and export demand remains strong, while oxyfuels margins and demand remain high.
