Lyft, Inc. announced on September 9, 2026, that Michael Brous has been appointed Chief Financial Officer, effective September 28, 2026. Brous will succeed Erin Brewer, who plans to retire from the position as of the same date. Brewer will remain with the company in an advisory capacity from September 28, 2026, through December 15, 2026, to assist with the transition.
Brous, age 39, has served in senior leadership roles at Lyft for nearly eight years. Most recently, he served as Head of Lyft Urban Solutions and Safety & Customer Care since November 2025. Prior to that, he was Head of Lyft Urban Solutions from September 2023 to November 2025. His previous roles at the company include Head of Strategy and Growth, Co-Head of Operations, and Head of Financial Planning & Analysis. Before joining Lyft through its 2018 acquisition of Motivate International Inc., Brous served as Vice President of Finance at Motivate.
The company disclosed the terms of Brous’s employment in an employment letter dated September 7, 2026. Brous is set to receive an annual base salary of $650,000. He is also eligible for a target annual cash bonus opportunity equal to 50% of his base salary. The company plans to grant him two awards of restricted stock units (RSUs) with a combined grant date value of approximately $2,775,000. Additionally, he will receive an award of performance-based RSUs with a grant date value of approximately $775,000. The RSUs will vest quarterly over four years, subject to his continued service.
Brewer’s departure is not the result of any dispute or disagreement with the company. In recognition of her tenure, Brewer will continue to vest in her outstanding equity awards during her advisory period. Lyft also reaffirmed its third quarter 2026 Gross Bookings, Adjusted EBITDA, and Adjusted EBITDA margin guidance provided on August 6, 2026. The company expects to report its third quarter 2026 earnings in November 2026.
