Keros Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: KROS) announced on September 8, 2026, that its board of directors has approved a new stock repurchase program. The program authorizes the company to repurchase up to $5 million of its outstanding common stock.
The authorization was granted following the receipt of a $20 million development milestone payment under a license agreement with Takeda Pharmaceuticals U.S.A., Inc., specifically related to the elritercept program following the dosing of the first patient in the ELRiSE MDS clinical trial.
Under the program, management is authorized to repurchase shares from time to time in the open market or through other means permitted by applicable securities laws. The company stated that the timing and amount of any repurchases will depend on various factors, including market conditions, stock price, and contractual limitations. The program may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time and does not obligate the company to repurchase a specific dollar amount or number of shares.
As of June 30, 2026, Keros reported cash and cash equivalents of $257.6 million. The company stated that, based on its current operating plans and after giving effect to the milestone payment and the repurchase program, its cash balance is expected to be sufficient to fund operating expenses and capital expenditures through the second half of 2028.
