Ivanhoe Electric Inc. has filed an 8-K report disclosing an updated Preliminary Feasibility Study (PFS) for its Santa Cruz Copper Project in Arizona. The study, dated September 23, 2026, replaces a previous report from June 2025 and was prepared by a team of eleven third-party qualified persons, including BBA Consultants USA LP, Worley Group Inc., and Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, Inc.
The Santa Cruz Copper Project is located approximately 92 kilometers south of the Phoenix metropolitan area, near Casa Grande. The company reports that the area has a population of approximately 57,700 and is supported by the infrastructure of the greater Phoenix region, which has a population of about 4.8 million.
Ivanhoe Electric owns the project through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Mesa Cobre Holding Corporation. The company’s mineral control includes 25.98 square kilometers of fee simple mineral ownership, 19.30 square kilometers of unpatented mining lode claims (277 claims), and 30.47 square kilometers of Arizona State Land Department mineral exploration permits (16 permits).
The company also holds surface rights to the majority of the project area, including Grandfathered Irrigation Rights and Grandfathered Type 1 Non-irrigation Water Rights, which provide approximately 3,600 acre-feet of water per year for project use.
The project area comprises four separate areas along a southwest-northeast corridor: the Southwest exploration area, the Santa Cruz deposit, the East Ridge deposit, and the Texaco deposit. The company notes that mineralization includes supergene copper oxide mineralization, secondary supergene sulfide mineralization, and primary hypogene sulfide mineralization.
The filing includes a press release and a slideshow presentation as exhibits. The company intends to hold an investor call on September 23, 2026, to discuss the results of the 2026 PFS.
