Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned that the United States cannot pressure Iran through the Strait of Hormuz without facing consequences, according to a report from Benzinga. The comments were made on Sunday via a post on X.
Ghalibaf shared a meme depicting a closet with falling plates held back by a closed door. The image captioned the cutlery as a “global IOU casino, petrodollar ponzi, rentier sheikhdoms, Regime-change charities,” and described the situation as “Schrödinger’s Empire.”
“The empire is in the SOH [Strait of Hormuz] cabinet with falling plates, projecting hegemony but fully exposed, trying to suffocate Iran without blowback (impossible),” Ghalibaf stated. He added, “This endgame cannot be modeled. It will be opened, and Iran’s hand is already on the lever.”
The remarks reference a note from HFI Research regarding JP Morgan Chase & Co. analysts’ inability to model oil prices amid potential disruptions.
The comments come amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran. Reports indicate that President Donald Trump is in a “deciding mode” regarding potential action against Iran and is set to meet with Gulf state leaders to discuss a post-Iran war scenario. Earlier, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced it had struck and detained a Togo-flagged tanker named Trend in the Strait of Hormuz.
