International Business Machines Corporation (NYSE: IBM) shares are trading higher following the company's announcement of a self-hosted deployment option for its agentic software development platform, IBM Bob. The new feature is designed to assist enterprises in advancing AI sovereignty and governance.
The self-hosted deployment allows organizations to run AI-powered software development on-premises, in private-cloud, sovereign-cloud, and air-gapped environments. This approach aims to prevent sensitive code, data, or workflows from moving to external services. IBM stated that the offering targets enterprises in regulated industries that require greater control over data residency, security policies, and AI governance.
According to the report, the platform allows supported models to run on premises, including in air-gapped environments, or connect to external model services through hybrid configurations. Neel Sundaresan, the General Manager of AI and Automation at IBM, commented on the development, stating, "The future of enterprise AI will depend on security, governance and sovereignty." He noted that organizations need AI that operates inside environments they have control over, especially when working with sensitive code and regulated data.
At the time of publication, IBM shares were trading 5.94% higher at $233.00, according to data from Benzinga Pro.
