IBM and Red Hat have announced the general availability of Lightwell, a new tool designed to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities in Java libraries. The companies reported that Lightwell has already identified and remediated over 400 vulnerabilities in widely used Java libraries.
The Lightwell Clearinghouse is described as a resource for developers and security professionals to manage and patch these security risks. The tool is intended to help organizations secure their software supply chains by addressing known issues in common dependencies.
Both IBM and Red Hat are positioning the release as a step toward improving software security standards across the industry.
