iBio, Inc. (NASDAQ: IBIO) disclosed preclinical data from an eight-week obese non-human primate study evaluating its antibody candidate IBIO-610 in combination with semaglutide. The data were presented during an oral session at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes Annual Meeting on October 1, 2026.
The study focused on body composition changes, comparing the combination therapy to semaglutide alone. In the group receiving both IBIO-610 and semaglutide, lean mass accounted for 6% of the total weight lost. In contrast, when semaglutide was administered alone, lean mass made up 22% of the weight lost. Additional analysis indicated that at week 8, fat accounted for 93% of the weight lost in the combination group, compared to 77% in the semaglutide-only group.
IBIO-610 is described as a potentially first-in-class Activin E antibody. The study results showed that the candidate delivered durable, near-complete inhibition of active Activin E. Previous data from the same study reported a 97% reduction in serum levels of active Activin E at week 8 following a single intravenous dose.
The filing also included pharmacokinetic data, noting that IBIO-610 had a half-life of 33.2 days in non-human primates. The company stated that this projected human half-life could support dosing schedules of twice per year. iBio plans to begin first-in-human studies for IBIO-610 in the first half of 2027.
