Alphabet Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOGL) has announced a major expansion of its digital infrastructure in Finland, outlining a plan to invest 13 billion euros (approximately $15.13 billion) over the next two years. The company described this package as its largest single investment in Europe.
The investment is designed to support the rising demand for its core products, including Search, Maps, and Gemini. The funding will be allocated toward digital infrastructure, clean energy initiatives, and local partnerships.
The financial package includes a 22-year agreement to support the life extension of the Loviisa nuclear plant. In addition, the plan involves the creation of new onshore wind capacity and a 94-megawatt battery system.
Google stated that the investment will also support environmental projects, including forest and wetland restoration. Furthermore, the company plans to fund recreational infrastructure such as public saunas and fishing piers near its operational sites.
The company highlighted its operations in Hamina, noting that these activities supported more than 600 Finnish suppliers between 2023 and 2025.
