FTAI Aviation Ltd. (NASDAQ: FTAI) announced the acquisition of 27 Boeing 737-700 aircraft from WestJet. The transaction involves two separate purchases: the company’s 2026 Strategic Capital vehicle purchased 17 aircraft via a sale-leaseback arrangement, while its Aerospace Products business acquired 10 off-lease aircraft.
The 2026 SPV was established to invest in mid-life 737NG and A320ceo aircraft currently on lease. This vehicle follows the company’s 2025 SPV, which secured $2 billion in equity commitments and has committed $6 billion of total capital across more than 300 aircraft.
FTAI stated that the purchase of the 10 off-lease aircraft will expand the supply of CFM56-7B engines and modules for its Maintenance, Repair and Exchange business. The company recently expanded its engine maintenance partnership with PT Garuda Maintenance Facility Aero Asia Tbk, securing guaranteed maintenance capacity for five years across the Asia-Pacific region.
FTAI shares were trading at $169.55 at the time of publication, down 3.15% on the day.
