Ford Motor Company reported third-quarter sales results on October 2, 2026, highlighting gains in retail market share and strong performance from its truck and SUV lineup. The company estimates that its retail share increased approximately 0.4 percentage points year over year to 12.1% for the third quarter, excluding the planned phase-out of the Escape and Corsair models.
Third-quarter sales volume totaled 509,764 vehicles, a decrease of 6.6% compared to the prior year. This decline reflects the planned portfolio transition, as the company noted that total vehicle sales were essentially unchanged compared with an industry decline of about 1%.

Through September, F-Series sales reached 561,508 trucks, extending its lead over the Chevrolet Silverado by more than 140,000 units. The brand remains on track for a 50th consecutive year as America’s best-selling truck.

This represents a 4.4% increase from the previous year and marks the best quarterly production performance for the Super Duty in 19 years. Overall F-Series production increased 4.5% to 266,777 trucks in the third quarter.
Several models achieved record sales during the period. The Maverick Hybrid pickup set a third-quarter sales record with 27,793 units sold, a 59.6% increase. Additionally, sales of the Explorer SUV increased 17.6% through September, and the Mustang saw a 7.5% increase in the third quarter and a 17.9% increase through September.
Regarding production disruptions, Ford noted that production of F-150 trucks was affected by a short-term supplier issue at the end of September. The company stated that the expected financial impact of this issue is containable within its full-year 2026 adjusted EBIT guidance of $10.0 billion to $11.0 billion.
Financial and digital services metrics also showed growth. Active paid software subscriptions exceeded 1.7 million through September, representing an increase of more than 40% year over year. Ford and Lincoln customers logged nearly 14 million cumulative hours of hands-free highway driving using BlueCruise during the quarter.
