Deep Fission, Inc. (Nasdaq: FISN) announced on September 21, 2026, a collaboration with Youngquist Brothers, LLC to evaluate and test drilling and borehole-construction methods for the company's underground reactor deployment model. The partnership aims to advance the construction of large-diameter, deep boreholes required for Deep Fission's technology.

Under the agreement, the companies will work together to adapt Youngquist's commercial drilling expertise to Deep Fission's specific needs. Youngquist Brothers, a commercial drilling contractor, has decades of experience drilling large-diameter boreholes reaching depths of more than 8,000 feet. The collaboration is intended to support the company's Gravity Nuclear Reactor, which utilizes established pressurized water reactor technology to secure a reactor roughly one mile underground in a water-filled borehole.

On September 3, 2026, the companies successfully completed an equipment demonstration in Fort Myers, Florida. During this test, Deep Fission lowered and retrieved its 30-inch full-size prototype reactor canister into a 34-inch borehole to a depth of approximately 100 feet using Youngquist's proprietary drilling technologies and equipment. The demonstration focused on installation and retrieval mechanics rather than full-depth drilling.

Deep Fission is currently advancing the development of its first reactor project in Parsons, Kansas and is targeting commercial deployment as early as 2027. The collaboration is expected to continue as the company moves toward that timeline.
