D-Wave Quantum Inc. (NASDAQ: QBTS) announced on October 1, 2026, the launch of a beta program for its gate-model quantum computing simulator. The simulator is designed to offer early access to select customers to experiment with error-aware programming and develop applications ahead of the company's future gate-model systems.

The technology is built around D-Wave’s dual-rail superconducting gate-model architecture, which aims to utilize error detection for efficient quantum error correction with lower hardware overhead as systems scale. A foundational element of this architecture was recently validated in peer-reviewed research published in Nature, which demonstrated a fast, high-fidelity two-qubit entangling gate.

Participants in the beta program include commercial and research organizations: BBVA, FirstQFM, Florida Atlantic University (FAU), and the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC). Access to the simulator will be provided through D-Wave’s Leap quantum cloud service and Ocean SDK.

D-Wave also plans to offer flexible development bundles that combine simulator access with future gate-model systems and expert guidance. The beta program is intended to help organizations explore the simulator's capabilities and prepare for the transition to physical hardware.
