Crown Castle Inc. announced leadership changes on September 14, 2026, effective in early 2027. Sunit S. Patel, the company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, has elected to retire, effective March 31, 2027. Concurrently, Cathy Piche, the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, will step down from her role effective September 23, 2026, and depart from the company on February 22, 2027.
Ms. Piche will serve as a special advisor to Crown Castle from September 23, 2026, through February 22, 2027, to assist with the transition of her duties. The company stated that it has initiated a search to identify a successor for the Chief Operating Officer role.
In connection with Mr. Patel’s retirement, the board of directors intends to appoint Kristoffer Hinson, the company’s current Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, as the next CFO. Mr. Hinson will assume the role effective April 1, 2027. Mr. Hinson, age 43, has served as Crown Castle’s EVP and Chief Commercial Officer since 2026. Prior to this role, he served as Vice President – Corporate Finance and Treasurer from 2023 to 2026, where he was responsible for investor relations, strategic planning, treasury, procurement, business analytics, sustainability, and corporate facilities.
Before joining Crown Castle, Mr. Hinson spent 13 years at ExxonMobil in various finance leadership roles, most recently as Director of Investor Relations. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an AB in Economics from Harvard College.
The company noted that no compensation arrangements for Mr. Hinson’s appointment have been determined as of the filing date, and his existing compensation arrangements remain in effect. Both Mr. Patel and Ms. Piche will receive separation benefits under their existing agreements due to their departures being classified as qualifying terminations.
