CME Group announced a series of senior leadership appointments in its finance and legal divisions, effective in late 2026 and early 2027. The changes are part of a transition plan where current President and CFO Lynne Fitzpatrick will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer in March 2027.
Jack Tobin, who has served as Managing Director and Chief Accounting Officer since 2015, will be promoted to Chief Financial Officer effective March 2027. To ensure a smooth transition, Tobin will first serve as Deputy Chief Financial Officer, a role he will assume on November 2, 2026. Tobin has over 35 years of financial experience and has been with CME Group since 2002, previously serving as Managing Director, Corporate Finance.
Matthew Render, 47, has been appointed as the new Managing Director, Chief Accounting Officer, effective November 2, 2026. Render joined CME Group as Deputy Chief Accounting Officer in August 2026. Prior to joining CME Group, he served as the Global Head of Financial Reporting, Accounting Policy & Finance Transformation at Citadel and Citadel Securities since 2018.
In the legal division, John Marchese has been promoted to General Counsel. Marchese, who has been Managing Director & Associate General Counsel, Litigation & Information Technology since 2024, will succeed Jonathan Marcus, who is stepping down after serving as General Counsel since 2022. Marchese joined CME Group in 2011 and previously held leadership positions at Arthur Andersen LLP and Latham & Watkins.
