CenterPoint Energy, Inc. reported its third-quarter 2026 financial results, posting net income of $331 million, or $0.50 per diluted share, on a GAAP basis. This figure represents a year-over-year increase from the $293 million, or $0.45 per diluted share, reported in the same period of 2025. On a non-GAAP basis, which excludes items such as mark-to-market gains and losses on securities, the company reported diluted earnings per share of $0.53 for the quarter, up from $0.50 in the prior year.

The company attributes the growth in earnings primarily to growth and rate recovery, which contributed $0.09 per share of favorability compared to the third quarter of 2025. Weather and usage also contributed a favorable variance of $0.03 per share, while operations and maintenance expenses remained flat for the quarter. These positive factors were partially offset by $0.04 per share of unfavorable variance due to higher financing expenses related to new debt issuances and equity dilution, as well as $0.05 per share from other items, largely due to the absence of a one-time tax optimization benefit recorded in the prior year.

In its guidance update, CenterPoint Energy raised its 2026 non-GAAP EPS range to $1.90-$1.92. This represents nearly 9% growth at the midpoint compared to 2025 results. The company also initiated guidance for 2027 non-GAAP EPS of $2.07-$2.09, indicating approximately 9% growth at the midpoint over the increased 2026 outlook. CenterPoint extended its expectation for non-GAAP EPS growth at the mid-to-high end of its 7% to 9% annual range through 2030.

Regarding its capital plan, the company increased its 10-year investment plan by $4.0 billion, bringing the total to $70.7 billion. Additionally, $1.5 billion of investments were accelerated into the 2026-2030 period to support accelerating customer demand in the Greater Houston area. The company stated it maintains incremental capital investment opportunities of at least $10 billion through 2035.
