Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) has announced new commercial aircraft orders from Turkish Airlines and Biman Bangladesh Airlines, totaling 111 planes with options for 50 more. President Donald Trump highlighted the deals on Truth Social, crediting Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and the Department of Commerce for facilitating the agreements.
According to Trump, the purchases by Turkish Airlines and Bangladesh’s flag carrier will support “tens of thousands of American Jobs” and involve “tens of billions of dollars” in exports. He described the announcements as a “big day” for domestic manufacturing, stating that the market is recognizing the strength of building and exporting goods from the U.S.
In an official statement, Boeing confirmed that Turkish Airlines purchased 100 737-8 airplanes and secured options for 50 more 737 MAX jets, marking the airline’s largest single-aisle order with the company. Additionally, Biman Bangladesh Airlines placed an order for 11 aircraft, comprising five 787-10 Dreamliners and six 737-8 jets.
Boeing noted that it has previously reached a record order with Korean Air. As Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in the U.S., potential deals with Chinese airlines are also under renewed focus following Beijing’s confirmation in May that Chinese carriers had placed orders with Boeing.
On Wednesday, Boeing shares rose 0.03% to $199.99 during overnight trading.
