The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation (BNY) announced its financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, in an earnings release dated October 15, 2026. The company reported diluted earnings per common share of $2.34, a 24% increase compared to the same period in the prior year.

Total revenue for the quarter reached $5.68 billion, representing a 12% year-over-year increase. This growth was driven by a 12% rise in fee revenue, attributed to net new business, higher client activity, and higher market values. Net interest income also increased by 15% due to the reinvestment of investment securities at higher yields and balance sheet growth.

On the expense side, noninterest expense totaled $3.49 billion, an 8% increase from the previous year, primarily due to higher revenue-related expenses and investments. The company generated a pre-tax operating margin of 38.5% and a return on tangible common equity (ROTCE) of 29.0%.

BNY Mellon returned $1.4 billion of capital to common shareholders during the quarter, comprising $436 million in dividends and $937 million in share repurchases. The company’s balance sheet metrics showed average deposits of $311 billion, a 4% increase year-over-year, and average loans of $86.8 billion, a 19% increase.

Capital ratios remained strong, with a Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) ratio of 10.9% and a Tier 1 leverage ratio of 5.7%. Assets under custody and/or administration (AUC/A) increased to $63.4 trillion, a 10% rise year-over-year, while assets under management (AUM) stood at $2.2 trillion, a 2% increase.
