Benitec Biopharma Inc. has announced a change in its independent registered public accounting firm. The company’s Audit Committee dismissed Baker Tilly US, LLP on September 18, 2026, and notified the firm on September 21, 2026. The company has appointed Ernst & Young LLP (EY) as the new auditor for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2027. The formal engagement with EY is subject to the firm completing its client acceptance process.

Baker Tilly served as the company’s auditor since 2020. The firm’s audit reports for the fiscal years ended June 30, 2026 and 2025 did not contain any adverse opinions, disclaimers, or qualifications regarding accounting principles, audit scope, or going concern. The company states that there were no disagreements with Baker Tilly on accounting principles, financial statement disclosure, or auditing procedures during the relevant periods.

The filing notes one exception to the absence of disagreements: a material weakness in the company’s internal control over financial reporting. This weakness, related to the inadequate design and implementation of controls over the share-based compensation calculation review process, was reported in the company’s Form 10-K for the year ended June 30, 2025. Benitec reported that this material weakness was remediated as of June 30, 2026. The company has discussed this reportable event with Baker Tilly and authorized the firm to respond to inquiries from the successor auditor.
