Azitra, Inc. (NYSE American: AZTR) announced results from an ex vivo study of its cosmetic product candidate, ATR-COSF, which demonstrated the ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The filing details findings from two models of human skin explants, which are skin samples maintained in nutrient-rich media.
In the first model, utilizing dorsal torsoplasty skin explants, a single topical dose of ATR-COSF at a 2% concentration resulted in a 15% reduction in fine lines at three hours post-application. This improvement increased to approximately 20% at 24 hours and reached an overall reduction of about 50% at 48 hours. In contrast, a hydrogel vehicle without the active ingredient showed a 15% increase in fine lines at the three-hour mark and further deterioration by 48 hours.
The second model, utilizing face lift skin explants, tested ATR-COSF at both 2% and 4% concentrations. At a 6-hour time point, the 4% formulation outperformed the 2% formulation and the vehicle control across all measured elasticity parameters. The 2% formulation showed no improvement or a decline in elasticity, while the 4% formulation demonstrated clear improvements.
ATR-COSF is a supernatant-based formulation containing an active recombinant human domain of the filaggrin protein. The company stated that continued improvement was seen up to 48 hours after application. A first-in-human clinical study with the 4% formulation is anticipated to begin with approximately 30 subjects, and initial results are expected by year-end. The company noted that it remains appropriately funded to reach this milestone.
Additionally, the company disclosed that it has decided not to utilize its at-the-market (ATM) offering program for the foreseeable future. From September 28, 2026, through October 26, 2026, the Company sold an aggregate of 1,000 shares of common stock under the ATM Program for aggregate gross proceeds of approximately $126. The Company may resume sales under the ATM Program or pursue other financing transactions at any time in its discretion.
