Firy Inc. (NYSE: FIRY) announced the appointment of Marc Lasry to its Board of Directors as an independent director, effective October 1, 2026. The appointment fills a vacancy created by the resignation of Gary Vecchiarelli, who is transitioning to the role of Board Advisor on the same date.
Vecchiarelli notified the Board of his resignation on September 11, 2026, noting that the departure is not due to any disagreements regarding the Company’s operations, policies, or practices.
Lasry is the Co-Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer of Avenue Capital Group, a global investment firm with approximately $9.2 billion in assets under management. He has spent more than three decades investing in public and private debt across various industries. Prior to founding Avenue Capital, he managed capital for Amroc Investments, L.P., and served in bankruptcy and corporate reorganization roles at Cowen & Company and Smith Vasiliou Management Company.
The Board determined that Lasry is an independent director under New York Stock Exchange rules. The Company stated there are no arrangements or understandings regarding his appointment and no family relationships between him and other directors or officers. He will receive compensation consistent with the Company’s standard non-employee director program and enter into a standard indemnification agreement.
Lasry’s relationship with the Company dates back to 2015, when he participated as an investor in the $15 million Series B round raised by Skillz, the Company’s former name. In a press release, CEO Andrew Paradise noted that Lasry has proven adept at identifying value across market cycles.
Lasry expressed his belief that the Company is well-positioned to deliver on its mission, citing the team’s reset of the cost structure and the strengthening of the balance sheet. He highlighted the Company’s focus on building systems for developers, businesses, and consumers, which includes a fast-growing AI ad-tech business alongside its competition platform.
