Avantor, Inc. has announced the appointment of Todd Garner as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective September 21, 2026. In this role, Mr. Garner will join the company’s Executive Leadership Team and serve as its principal financial officer. He succeeds Steven Eck, who will step down as Interim Chief Financial Officer but will continue in his position as Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer.
Prior to joining Avantor, Mr. Garner, age 57, served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of CONMED Corporation from January 2018 until March 2026. His previous experience includes several roles at C.R. Bard, Inc., including Vice President, Investor Relations; Vice President, Controller; Director of Financial Reporting; and Controller of the Reynosa Operations. Mr. Garner holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Brigham Young University and an MBA from the University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley, and is a Certified Public Accountant.
The company entered into an employment letter agreement with Mr. Garner on September 17, 2026. Under the terms of the agreement, Mr. Garner’s annual base salary is set at $700,000. He is eligible for an annual cash bonus with a target opportunity of 80% of his base salary, beginning in 2026. Additionally, he will receive a one-time cash signing bonus of $150,000, subject to repayment obligations if he departs prior to the one-year anniversary of his start date.
Mr. Garner will also receive an initial long-term equity grant valued at $1,500,000 under the company’s 2019 Equity Incentive Plan. This grant consists of $750,000 in restricted stock units and $750,000 in stock options. The restricted stock units will vest ratably over two years, while the stock options will vest ratably over three years, both subject to the Plan’s terms. In subsequent years, Mr. Garner will be eligible for a target annual long-term incentive grant of $3,000,000, consistent with the allocation for other members of the Executive Leadership Team.
