Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) unveiled its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, during the “Surprise and Shine” event. The device features a 7.6-inch inner display with a nano-texture anti-glare finish and a 5.4-inch outer screen that delivers 90% of the screen area found on the iPhone 18 Pro. The device is constructed with a machined titanium frame, Ceramic Shield 2 on the front, and an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
The pricing for the iPhone Duo begins at $1,999 for the 256GB model and scales up to 2TB. Preorders for the device will open on October 16, with availability set for October 23. The $2,000 starting price point creates a new premium tier for Apple above its existing Pro line.
Following the announcement, Apple shares erased morning losses and traded near $316, representing a swing of approximately 1.5% from the session's low against a broadly negative market backdrop.
