Amazon.com, Inc. announced its financial results for the third quarter ended September 30, 2026, reporting a record operating margin and the fastest growth rate for its Amazon Web Services (AWS) segment in nearly five years.

For the quarter, the company reported net sales of $201.9 billion, representing a 12% increase compared to the same period in 2025. When excluding the impact of foreign exchange rate changes, net sales grew by 13%. AWS segment sales increased 39% year-over-year to $46.0 billion, bringing the segment to an annualized revenue run rate of $184 billion.

Operating income for the quarter was $28.1 billion, compared to $17.4 billion in the prior year. This resulted in an operating margin of 13.9%, which the company noted is its highest operating margin ever. Segment operating income figures were $8.7 billion for North America, $1.6 billion for International, and $17.8 billion for AWS.

Net income for the third quarter decreased to $20.7 billion, or $1.89 per diluted share, down from $21.2 billion, or $1.95 per diluted share, in the prior year. The company attributed the decrease to pre-tax gains of $9.5 billion recorded in the third quarter of 2025 related to investments in Anthropic.

Amazon also updated its outlook for AWS. The company stated that it projects revenue growth rates of over 40% for both 2027 and 2028.
