Altimeter Capital CEO Brad Gerstner has predicted that artificial intelligence firm Anthropic will go public within weeks rather than months. Speaking on CNBC’s Halftime Report on October 15, Gerstner stated that investor demand for the offering could exceed $500 billion.

Gerstner, an early investor in Anthropic who has participated in nearly every major White House meeting regarding AI, drew a comparison to Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: SPCX). He noted that a $100 billion offering for SpaceX generated approximately $350 billion in demand.

According to a report by Kate Rooney, Anthropic’s investor day data indicated that the company’s revenue was just shy of $17 billion for the third quarter, representing a sequential increase of 45%. The firm reported profitability on an adjusted basis with margins exceeding 80%.

Despite these financial figures, DA Davidson reportedly stated that the market appears to be reading the Anthropic update as a negative. Gerstner addressed this by citing a conversation with Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ: NVDA) CEO Jensen Huang, who indicated that revenues would grow at least 2x next year.

Regarding industry safety, Gerstner supported a proposal by Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) CEO Satya Nadella for a "human-controlled emergency break" in case models behave unexpectedly. On his personal portfolio, Gerstner revealed he had reduced his AI exposure to a "medium small" size, citing that the stocks had "gotten ahead of themselves" in the spring.
