Acumen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: ABOS) reported its financial results for the third quarter of 2026 and provided an update on its clinical development programs. The company disclosed that as of September 30, 2026, it held cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities totaling $78.6 million. This represents a decrease from the $110.2 million balance reported as of June 30, 2026. The company stated that this cash balance is expected to support current clinical and operational activities into early 2027.
For the quarter ended September 30, 2026, Acumen reported research and development (R&D) expenses of $21.1 million, a decrease compared to $22.0 million for the same period in the prior year. The company attributed this decrease primarily to reductions in manufacturing and materials costs, as well as contract research organization (CRO) costs associated with the ALTITUDE-AD trial, partially offset by increased spending for its Enhanced Brain Delivery (EBD) program. General and administrative expenses were $4.7 million for the quarter, compared to $4.5 million in the prior year.
In terms of clinical progress, Acumen announced it expects to report topline results from its ALTITUDE-AD Phase 2 study in November 2026. ALTITUDE-AD is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial investigating sabirnetug (ACU193) in 542 participants with early Alzheimer’s disease. The study is evaluating two active doses (35 mg/kg and 50 mg/kg) administered intravenously once every four weeks over an 18-month period. Additionally, Acumen stated it is targeting the submission of an Investigational New Drug (IND) filing for a lead clinical candidate in its EBD program in mid-2027.
